- First volleyball tournament in Wimbledon attracts nearly 100 players
- London 18 May 2009 - Wimbledon Park on Saturday saw nearly 100 adults and juniors playing volleyball in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Wimbledon Volleyball Club. 20 teams from London and Surrey took part, including; Richmond, Guildford, Dorking, Spelthorne, Teddington, Cranleigh and Wimbledon. Luckily the tournament was largely unaffected by showers and fun was had by all.

- New FIVB rules from 1 January 2009
- The FIVB, volleyball's world governing body, recently announced some new rules which the Surrey Volleyball Association has chosen to partly adopt from 1 January.
